The following protocols to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission are based on guidelines set out by the provincial Public Health Authority, WorkSafe BC, and the professional associations overseeing therapeutic services.

PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • You will receive our “Pre-appointment Covid-19 Screening and Consent” by email the day before your scheduled appointment. This online form MUST be completed ON THE DAY of your appointment BEFORE you arrive at the clinic. Please be aware that if this form is not filled out prior to your arrival at the clinic, you will be required to fill it out at the outset of your treatment time, and it will not be possible for your practitioner to extend your treatment. Please note that there will be no late cancellation charge if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment due to illness.

  • Please check your patient profile in Jane (our clinic’s booking system) to ensure that we have your correct phone number so that we can contact you if necessary.
  • You may bring your purse, wallet, cell phone, jacket, and a change of clothes for your treatment (if necessary), but please leave any unnecessary personal belongings at home or in your car.
  • If applicable, please bring appropriate clothing to change into for your treatment (i.e. For neck or upper body injuries, a loose tank top is recommended, and for low back and lower body injuries, please bring a pair of shorts.).
  • Use the washroom prior to leaving home. There will be limited access to washrooms in the facility. As we cannot guarantee the cleanliness of the public washrooms in the building, please use them at your own risk.
  • DO NOT bring your children or other family members to your appointment unless absolutely necessary (i.e. breastfeeding mothers, parent or guardian accompanying a child who is the patient, adults and seniors who require assistance).
  • Please be on time for your appointment (i.e. Plan to arrive 5 – 10 minutes prior to your appointment start time). We have been mandated to keep numbers of people on site low to reduce the risks of Covid-19 transmission. If you arrive too early, you might be asked to wait outside or in your vehicle to ensure that there aren’t too many people on site. If you are late, please be aware that your practitioner will not be able to extend your appointment time as it will also lead to too many people being in the facility.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE CLINIC

  • Please note that if you are attending for treatment at our Abbotsford location, Fraser Health has limited the users that may access our building. Consequently, you may be asked to identify yourself as being a patient prior to being permitted to have access to the building.
  • Please ensure that you are wearing your own mask when you arrive, and be sure to keep it on for the duration of your time at the facility unless it must be removed to facilitate your treatment. If you do not have a mask, you can purchase a disposable one from the front desk staff for $1.50.
  • When entering the clinic, please check in for your appointment first, ensuring that you maintain the required 6 ft (2m) social distancing recommendation from others who might be in the reception area. You will be required to confirm verbally that you have completed the “Pre-appointment Covid-19 Screening and Consent” and that you are still feeling healthy and can attend for your scheduled appointment (Yes, again! This is mandated to ensure you have not developed symptoms since completing your online form.).
  • When checking in, please pay for your treatment, preferably by using a “tap” debit or credit card.
  • To maintain adequate social distancing, our staff will then direct you to a waiting area across from your practitioner’s treatment room. Our usual reception chairs will have been removed, and you will be required to stand where indicated while you wait for your appointment. Limited seating will be available for patients with mobility issues only.

DURING YOUR TIME AT THE CLINIC

  • All practitioners will be following the guidelines set out by the Public Health Authority, WorkSafe BC, and their professional associations. This includes proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), strict hand hygiene, and disinfection of all contact surfaces.
  • Social distancing will be practiced whenever possible, but please note that it is not possible to provide in-person therapy while maintaining the recommended distance of 6 ft (2m). PPE will be used wherever possible to reduce risks.
  • Your practitioner will be working to prioritize the key elements of your treatment while also attempting to minimize your overall time in the clinic. This has been recommended to reduce overall risk.
  • If at any time during your visit you begin to feel unwell or if you are uncomfortable following our policies, please immediately notify your practitioner.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Rebooking your next treatment will be done in the treatment room with your practitioner. Virtual online Telehealth treatments will continue to be an option for physiotherapy, chiropractic, kinesiology, occupational therapy, and clinical counselling. Your practitioner may recommend a combination of in-person and virtual treatments to optimize benefits versus risks.
  • If you need to book multiple appointments, please phone the front desk staff to do so after you get home.
  • We ask that you do not linger in the clinic space following your treatment so that we can minimize your contact with other patients and staff and ensure that your practitioner has adequate time to follow the Public Health Authority’s cleaning protocol.
  • Please ensure that you leave your mask on until you have exited the building.
